Abstract:
There have been increased adaptations of MEMS inertial sensors in the consumer electronics and bio-medical fields for applications such as drones, wearable electronics, and motion tracking devices. In this presentation I will briefly introduce navigation solutions based on inertial measurement unit and basics of accelerometers and gyroscopes. Recent research focus that will be discussed/touch base on include: features in sensor design (mechanical levers and mode ordering), gyroscope control loops, sensors integration through 3D folded MEMS structure, personal navigation algorithm (ZUPT), fabrication process, and sensor packaging.
